These kids from Lange Middle School come to science club once a month, hosted by Mizzou minority researchers who founded the ISMD-Express outreach program. These kids are now part of a growing outreach program to spark minority student interest in the sciences early on. There’s a gap between minority groups and white and Asian students earning educational degrees in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. The program aims to make science eccentric, and push underrepresented groups into those fields through bizarre and even edible experiments.

Yes, eating the experiment is always encouraged.

At the end of the day, what did they learn? That through multiple control groups and experimental trials, all marshmallow colors taste the same.

Also, the kids learned that you should not ask your teacher to be your valentine, because "she'll say naw, and that'll break your heart." -Heartbroken kid over Valentine's Day
